Vehicle Overview
Volvo took the play out of Mercedes-Benz book with entry-level C30 hatchback, which is based on the compact Volvo S40 sedan. These compete with other small, premium cars like the Volkswagen GTI and Mini Cooper S.

The C30 has two trims the base of T5 models and top-of-the-line T5 R-Design.

New for 2010
The C30 is now providing hands-free Bluetooth connectivity in both trims, and the trip computers. Also, custom-built options for models R-Design has been discontinued.

Exterior
C30 two-door has a large glass hatch at the rear. Volvo says to lend an open feel to the interior; observer can see the dashboard of the control center of the back.

R-Design trim has a lattice different and a matte finish on the side of the mirror.

Interior
Volvo said that four adults can fit in the C30. Rear bucket seats are positioned slightly to the inside of the front seat, so the more advanced visibility from the back seat. In front, the dashboard similar to the S40's, with ultra-thin center panel combines climate and audio controls.

* Cain T5 standard seating, leather seating is available
* R-leather trim design model differs from R-5 embossed logo

Under the Hood
The C30 is powered by a turbocharged, 2.5-liter inline-five-cylinder engine in both trim levels.

* 227 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque
* Six-speed manual standard
* Five-speed automatic transmission optional

Safety
Safety features include:

* Standard four-wheel-disc antilock brakes
* Standard side-impact and side curtain airbags
* Standard traction control
* Standard electronic stability system
* Optional warning system weaknesses
