Head Mk6 charge is a new air conditioner, a wider, restyled version of the classic Cobra official revealed here on the sketch by the designer Ron Saunders. Also destined for production is a coupé version, Mamba, and entry-level V6-powered soft-top Ace. "Now is the time to expand the reach and the main markets in the U.S. and Europe are developing our minds production plans for new models," said Alan Lubinsky, chairman of AC. Plans for three new ACS, arranged by Saunders, was first revealed three years ago, but they will be arrested when AC hit financial problems and the production moved from England to Malta. The Mamba is intended for display in 2001 at the London Motor Show, but the event was canceled.

Last month sent the first Malta 200 factory Mk5 cars to the United States, making re-launch Lubinsky for AC expansion plans. All three new models will be based on a new spaceframe version of the AC Cobra's tubular steel chassis and composite body underwear. The new structure will reduce weight and increase stiffness wider body.

To provide additional elbow room in the cramped cabin and improve handling, which will Mk6 wider 152mm, 100mm track will increase and the cabin will get an additional 50mm, while the 2286mm wheelbase and 4000mm overall length will remain unchanged. Power will come from the 4.6-liter Ford V8 engine with 300bhp and driving the rear wheels through a Tremec six-speed gearbox. The wishbone suspension also will remain largely unchanged, except for spring and damper revision.

Assuming the AC can develop new models in time, Lubinsky was planning to start production in the U.S. in July 2006 with a good Mk6 or Mamba. British cars will be offered from Malta, starting around 2007, while a new factory in Connecticut will supply the U.S.. 'In 2006 / 7, we must build 300 AC-badged cars in the United States and in 2009/10 which can 880 per year, "Lubinsky said. He also said that the AC has received assistance from the Department of Economic and Community Development in Connecticut to establish production in the U.S., and he has signed a "letter of intent 'in the new factory.

A new company, AC Cars Manufacturing (USA), will set-up with a capital of about $ 5m (£ 2.75m) and jointly owned 50:50 between the AC and a consortium of partners, said the specialist, including dealers and suppliers.
