2008 Lincoln Mark LT Pickup Crossover

2008 Lincoln Mark LT Pickup Crossover
Vehicle Overview
Luxury pickup is not a new concept, but there is little in the market. Cadillac Escalade EXT offers a SUV / pickup crossover, and Lincoln introduced a Blackwood SUV / pickup crossover for 2002, although it did not take long before the car was stopped. Lincoln re-entered the segment of the 2006 debut of the Mark LT, which comes from the Ford F-150 crew cab models. For the year 2008, Mark LT is equipped with standard satellite radio and six-month free subscription to Sirius. New options include remote start and camera glass.

Equipped with a 5.4-liter V-8 that develops 300 horsepower, Mark LT has four full doors and a full rear seat capacity for five passengers.

Exterior
Lincoln Mark LT freshen up last year, with chrome surrounds for the brake lights. There is also an appearance package with body-color grille surround, bumpers and mirror caps. Appearance cues taken from the Lincoln family passenger cars and sport-utility vehicles, with chrome to provide a unifying theme. It is used on bumpers, mirrors, door handles and lower cladding.

Lattice waterfall with prominent Lincoln star, wide taillamps and thick spoked wheels enhance Mark LT family resemblance to the Lincoln Aviator and Navigator SUVs. Box rail moldings and 20-inch chrome wheels are optional.

Built in the 138.5-inch wheelbase, Mark LT measures 223.8 inches long overall and stands 73.5 inches tall. Front suspension uses double wishbones and a coil-over-shock configuration. Leaf springs and outboard shock absorbers mounted at the rear. There is an optional 6.5-foot cargo bed; 5.5 standard bed-feet long.

Mark LT to get an optional glass camera for 2008. It is mounted on the tailgate handle and panel video displays in the rearview mirror. Remote start is also optional.

Interior
Lincoln adds auto-dimming driver-side rearview mirror as standard equipment last year, and ebony wood trim in various places throughout the cabin. There is also an optional DVD-based navigation system. Sirius Satellite Radio is now standard and come with a free subscription for six months.

Five passengers fit in the Mark LT. Luxury touches include original Ebony wood accents and soft Nudo leather seating surfaces. French-style chair features pleating and combining layered pattern insert. Contrast color stitching used on the instrument cluster.

Buyers get a choice of three interior theme: Pebble with Light Parchment seats, Black with Dove Gray seats or Ebony Black with a chair.

Under the Hood
Ford 5.4-liter Triton V-8 has three valves per cylinder and produces 300 hp at 5,000 rpm and 365 pound-feet of torque at 3750 rpm. A four-speed automatic transmission is the only offerings. Rear-wheel-drive Mark LT has a towing capacity of 8900 pounds; four-wheel-drive model is rated 300 pounds less.

Safety
All-disc antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution are standard. All seating positions have three-point seat belts, and front seatbelts include pretensioners. Dual front airbags deploy at different levels according to the severity of the accident, and the front passenger sensing system installed.
