Ford is celebrating 40 years of hospital with a special edition Ford Focus RS. Ford Focus RS WRC will be limited to only 50 units and will be revealed at the Geneva motor show next month. However, only made available in Switzerland by the Ford Suisse. Change all cosmetic and nothing under the skin has changed. This means that power comes from the 300bhp, £ 325 ft 2.5-liter gasoline engine. Takes 5.7sec to get from 0-60mph and the power sent to the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.

The design was chosen from several entries submitted in the competition online. Ford's design celebrates the involvement of the World Rally Championship and each model to get the interior of a number of individual plaque signed by the Ford WRC driver Mikko Hirvonen. All samples will be painted white and will show black stripes and green and WRC graphics. Boot spoiler will come in black and horses in 19-inch OZ alloy Superturismo GT. It costs 55,900 Swiss francs (£ 33,419), which in 2000 francs (£ 1195) premium over the standard hospitals in this country. Complete will be revealed at Geneva, where he will be on display next to the European version of the new Ford Focus.

Ford Focus RS has been set to £ 339 ft 368bhp and torque by Graham Goode Racing. That's 68bhp and £ 14 ft more than the standard car, at a cost of £ 3750 plus VAT for the kit, matches and 12-month, 30.000 mile warranty details. Racing graham Goode says it has improved the car to produce "a driveable, reliable, fast but stunning way quickly upgrade package".

No internal engine changes; carbonfibre modification consists of a cold air induction system, a large-capacity air-to-air intercooler, a large volume of fuel injection, increasing the silicon tube, a large bore tailpipe turbo sports front and catalysts, and remap the ECU. GGR technical manager Alastair Mayne said the company deliberately limiting torque advantage to Ensure the car can still be implemented. "Even with the front suspension Revoknuckle and Quaife differential, enough to get traction can be a problem," he said. "Given that in mind, we make a conscious decision to limit the engine torque, though there must be more to come from the motor if we want it."

This is a test of confrontation between the three mega hatchbacks, VW Golf R, Ford Focus RS and Renault Megane 250.

First impressions

The first thing that strike you when you see the cars together is how they look different, notes Steve Sutcliffe Autocar.

Focus RS courage positive leakage. Looks amazing in a general way, considering that it was also used license plates and tax discs - and £27k price tag.

However, on the way, Renault appears just as flamboyant, even if the overall personality of the marginal or less cartoon and, therefore, a little more elegant.

It's the Golf, however, who seemed the most surprising to begin with because, for a while, seems to be a complete mismatch in addition to two others. You wonder, in fact, even if the right model.

That's what makes this group test so interesting. All three of the large automobile intended to achieve the same results, but they went about achieving their goals in different ways.

Basic showroom trim is the cheapest in the Renault £22,467, followed at a distance by Ford £27,280 and £28,930 VW. Line up the specifications, though, and it was more like £25k (Renault), £29k (Ford and £31k (VW).

So how VW justify the higher price? One, that four-wheel drive, while the other two are front-wheel drive. Two, it's a VW, which is a commodity that is much more difficult to put down the price.

What do they have?

In the case of firearms, Golf's 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder serving up 267bhp at 6000rpm and 258lb ft in 2500rpm, which is sent from 0-62mph in 5.7sec.

Renault's 2.0-liter turbo engine produces 247bhp and 251lb ft That's enough for 0-62mph in 6.1sec - though the Renault lighter faster to 100mph.

Ford is a big-hitter, with a 2.5-liter, five cylinder turbo 300bhp and pounded out 赠 324 ft

Golf versus the rest

In the real world, Golf initially felt defeated comprehensively for pure acceleration. The Megane dropped VW without trying very hard once, and 20-100mph during a sudden explosion at the test point does not exist between the Renault and Ford.

However, out in the usual way, a more orderly state of the Golf R began to make sense. This is not trying to imitate Focus or Megane, and the overall impression of the cabin is that this is a high quality, not particularly held out of the car.

When you pull away, the gap grows wider. Golf R has a smoother, better ride quality than hospitals, and smaller tires produce less road rumble. The same thing applies to Renault, who took a more peaceful but noisy than Ford, but as a place near calm as VW's.

What is not so good on the Golf is a vague gearchange and soft, not related to feel the clutch. You would be wise to eliminate issues with pay and 赠 1305 DSG checkbox.

Conclusion

The Golf R is predictable and very mature in how to handle, but also touches on the usual - strange, considering how sharp the Scirocco R is on the road.

Ford and Renault singing from the same song sheet completely different. They are designed to intentionally burn your fingers from time to time and become much more interesting company as a result.

Which is better between Ford and Renault? The gap is very small you can only see the sun on the other side - the price factor and Renault profit almost become too close to call.

But no doubt, when he opened the road before you, the biggest hospital provides adrenaline thump. Remained the highest among the mega-hatchbacks when it comes to pure driving thrills.

North American version of the latest generation Ford Fiesta was officially unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show today. On the side of the Atlantic, Fiesta 2011 will be sold as a five-door hatchback and four-door sedan, both of which will be available with one engine, 1.6 liter four-cylinder petrol with an estimated output of 119 horsepower and 109 ft.-lbs. torque.

Power is transferred to the front wheels through a standard five-speed manual gearbox or optional, that all new North American industry-exclusive PowerShift six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Ford said they expect that the Fiesta will go back up to 40 mpg on the highway.

"Fuel economy leaders have traditionally been manual shift model," said Pierro Aversa, team leader for the transmission. "Fiesta change the game by offering advanced PowerShift six-speed automatic that provides maximum fuel economy."

Other than some small aesthetic changes involving a slightly different front grille on, the changing shape chrome bumpers and the addition of a large spoon in front bumper incorporating LED lights, five-door Fiesta hatchback are identical relative to the European style.

Meanwhile, four-door Fiesta sedan, change with colleagues that are sold in other markets around the world including North America, Ford's signature three-bar look and new tail lamps are inspired from the Taurus.

"For North America, the global Fiesta was tweaked, not redesigned or re-developed." said Steve Smart, the chief engineer. "We built on the success of the European Fiesta and really proud of how little has changed."

However, due to the fact that when the development of the Ford Fiesta, the original plan did not include North America, companies must redesign the car to address safety, emissions and powertrain issues.

"We had to change some parts. With a value per cent, on the whole value of the vehicle, the number of common parts is between 60 per cent of North America and Europe," Derrick Kuzak told reporters, Ford group Vice President for global product development.

According to Kuzak, the all-new 2011 Focus is expected to be introduced next year, has been engineered for all international markets including North America, right from the beginning. Kuzak told reporters that about 80 percent of parts by the2011 focus will be the same value between North American and European versions.

North American Fiesta hatchback and sedan models will be produced at Ford's Cuautitlan plant in Mexico, with sales in the U.S. scheduled to begin next summer.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 05
Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 04
Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 03
Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 02
Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
A revised 2010 version of the range-topping retro Mustang.

External GT500 got a few small tweaks to the classic Mustang shape, especially the larger cap bumps, bigger wheels and twin racing stripes.

The theme continues in (a line in the chair and gearlever), and in other places the cabin has been improved with better materials and a streamlined design.

GT500 same mechanical use 5.4-liter supercharged V8 as before, but with power increased to 540bhp and torque to 510 pounds ft. That's according to the specifications of a limited-edition GT500KR (King of the Road).

While Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT) is also sharpening suspension settings, it is not extended to replace the Mustang's ancient live axle rear suspension.
How does it feel?

Simple yet entertaining. At the moment it possible to send power to the rear wheels on a large scale that GT500 is fast - fast 540bhp impossible, but certainly fast enough.

This also sounded sensational. While Bathurst is all VXR8 supercharger whines, the GT500 more about V8 warble. And when you return from the throttle gently invaded it appears. The problem is, even with the help of two stage ESP system, the GT500 will break traction very easily - although, for one thing, which adds a sense of opportunity.

For such muscle cars, shipping surprisingly easy to live together. Light clutch action and shift the right and without any practical mechanical. In general, this is the same unit used in the Corvette, except that the action is significantly more satisfactory in this application. One contributing factor is a beautiful touch of classic white billiard ball gearknob.

In another case a small cottage but is an important step forward. According to the standards of most European cars, fit and finish was poor, but with a good touch screen sat-nav and stereo and some consistency in the design, it is now accepted Mustang. Ford also added 'mood lighting' - that would be fine, except that the 'mood' Ford tapped for best described as a 'provincial nightclub'.

In handling terms GT500 always entertaining but basic, and this latest version will not change that summary. This was enhanced - there are now more steering feel and better body control - but by the standards of modern sports car GT500 lack sophistication. Similarly, travel a little more subtle, but it was the rear axle is still struggling with corrugated roads.

All this from the GT500 stop fun to drive. If you have enough room to play with, it was frankly hysterical, but you need a certain mindset.
Should I buy one?

It depends on what you are looking for. Technical Porsche Cayman and the BMW M3 cars far more accomplished, and there are many others we would recommend before the Mustang.

However, if your soul after that, GT500 is difficult to fault. In the U.S. it sells for $ 46,325, and the cost of imports to the UK (Ford did not sell them officially) what you're looking at about the same rate in sterling. At that price, you'd better believe that your soul wants.

Various-topping version is equipped with a Ford Mondeo estate company Econetic Titanium trim levels of luxury. Econetic model that previously independent models in the Mondeo range, with the badging to match, but now may have the additional features of Titanium-spec models.

Power comes from the same 113bhp 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine as standard Econetic, giving 54.3mpg combined fuel economy and CO2 emissions of 139g/km.

Econetic Features include low resistance tires, the front grille air deflectors, indicators of change gears and lowered sports suspension.

Titanium standard features include headlights and automatic wipers, six-disc CD multichanger, a new 16-inch alloy wheels, and also some additional metal trim. It has a standard list price of £ 24,545, but our test car included Ford with full mod cons including Alcantara and leather heated seats, Bi-Xenon headlights and DVD touch screen sat-nav system. This gives the list price of less than 1000 pounds shy of £ 30,000, which placed through the conceptual from rivals and almost a BMW 5-series Touring region.

Dynamically, it is very good. The Mondeo has been leading the class up and handling and no exception here. This trip made and smooth, especially when traveling at highway speeds. Absorb both small and large imperfections in the road and can cover a mile in an elegant and comfortable fashion.

Around the city, traveling through some of the optional 17-inch wheels fitted to test out the car, but it was only a crack and a larger hole to catch out. Low-resistance tires are perfect for those who noisy than traditional counterparts they (especially at highway speeds), but did not have much negative impact on the quality of the trip when up to speed.

Handling is very good, and the big Mondeo feels like it has a calm and quiet family hatchback. Even on wet roads and in this eco guise, have high levels of grip that will deliver a more focused sports car estate.

The machine, however, is somewhat disappointing. The 113bhp feels underpowered to push the 1578kg curb weight and slow progress early. The 236 pounds of torque feel there is no (could not quite pull away in second gear), especially around town, so to slow the progress of the holidays and blunt on the highway.

There are also problems that interfere with the gearchange indicator, which only advise you about when to change for maximum efficiency and does not change down. If you follow the instructions indicators, perhaps to get stuck in your teeth are too high, which again showed a lack of encouragement.

At 300 miles covered on our test route, which mainly dual carriageways, the Mondeo embarrassed again 40mpg, some way short official numbers but respectable for a car of its size and weight.

Optional seat firmly, but still comfortable and suitable driving position is easy to find with a reach / sweep adjusted the wheel. Controls well laid out, although the interior does not feel tad dated now, share more in common with the focus of the Fiesta. That is to say, help touch Titanium appropriate premium feel, though not at the same level with the Vauxhall insignia.
